Rev. Dr. Carol Carnes
Dear Beloved Community,
The Core Council is very pleased to announce that Rev. Carol Carnes has accepted a Letter of Call to be our Interim Minister beginning in May 2014, providing leadership and spiritual guidance for OCSL through September as the community prepares to call in a new vision and a new permanent senior minister.
Being the Change We Wish To See
With Rev. Carol joining us in May, it is time to begin our process of transition in all aspects of community. The Leadership Council has already begun working on organizational and structural changes such as the new bylaws, new policies and procedures, and examining different staffing models and job descriptions. Now that our interim Senior Minister is with us, the same process will happen on all of the ecclesiastical functions within OCSL. All current ecclesiastical teams and cores will be evaluated for reorganizing; some will possibly be dissolved or integrated differently. On Wednesday and Thursday, April 9 and 10, Rev. Carol met with staff minister Rev. Sharon Dunn; Leadership Council Chair Katherine Saux; Leadership Council Treasurer Sanford Livingston; and interim Strategic Business Manager Ouida Cooper-Rodriguez to deepen her knowledge of how OCSL works. She will give what she has learned a great deal of thought and prayer, and will come prepared in May with ideas for moving into our 'greater yet to be.' The Council, which now includes Rev. Carol, remains committed to clear and frequent communication with our members as changes begin to emerge and be implemented. In the meantime, let us support each other as God supports us.
With blessings to all.

OCSL Is Going to One Service ~ Sunday May 4, 2014
The survey results are in. Beginning on May 4, OCSL will offer one service on Sundays for the five months while Rev. Carol Carnes is our interim minister. The meditation will take place at 10:00 am and the service will begin at 10:30 am. There were 21 "nay" votes, 138 "yea" votes, three unsigned votes that were not counted, and two "unsure" responses. Of those who indicated a preferred time for the one service, 17 voted for 10:00 and 14 voted for 10:30. Few people indicated what the start time would mean -- meditation or service -- but the votes were so close the Leadership Council and staff minister Rev. Sharon Dunn have agreed to implement the 10:00 and 10:30 timeframe. Thanks to all of the members and friends of OCSL who participated in the survey. We look forward to seeing everyone together in the sanctuary beginning in May.

Over the summer a newly constituted Nominating Team will recruit, screen and interview potential candidates for the five new positions on the Leadership Council, and there will be a special election on September 12 to elect your new leadership representatives. The application form for the Leadership Council can be downloaded here. The three current Council members who shall continue to serve until the 2015 Annual Meeting are Katherine Saux, Sanford Livingston and Geri Carder.
